Characteristics of DBMS:
Traditionally data was organized in file formats. DBMS was a new concept then. All the researcher was done to make it overcome the deficiencies in traditional style to modern data management system example: stories, books.
A DBMS has following characteristics:
1.Real world Entity:
A modern DBMS is more realistic and uses real world entities to design its architectures. It uses the behavior and attributes too.
examples: A School database may use students as an entity and that age was attributes.
2. Relation-based Tables:
DBMS allows entities (objects) and relations among them to frame tables. A user can understand the architecture of a database Just by lookıng at the table names. Table can easily explain the user what's the data about and user can easily understand after seeing table name.
3. Isolation of data and application:
A database system is entirely different than its data characteristics of data less. Isolation means we can reduce repetition of garbage data.
4. Less Redundancy:
If we use database we have less redundant data as compare to traditional files and registers.
5. Query Language:
DBMS is equipped with query language which makes it more efficient to retrieve and manipulate data. A user can apply many filtering options as required to retrieve a set of data. Traditionally it was not possible to filter and get data as fast as we want it.
